Suspect wanted for burglary and armed robbery in Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – A suspect is wanted in connection with a burglary and armed robbery in Augusta, authorities announced Monday.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says 44-year-old James Trimble III is wanted for a home invasion and armed robbery that occurred on August 18 in the 1800 block of Fayetteville Drive.

Officers stated that prior to their arrival, they were informed that the suspect had kicked in the apartment door and began attacking a victim inside the home.

When officers arrived, they said the apartment had been looted and vandalized and there was significant flooding throughout the apartment.

When officers managed to locate and find the victims, who had fled to safety after the incident, one of the victims told authorities that he recognized the suspect as Trimble, authorities said.

The victim stated that he was sleeping when he got up to go to the bathroom and found Trimble in the apartment with a gun.

Trimble ordered the victim to “empty his pockets” and give him everything he owned while pointing the gun at him, the victim told authorities.

Officials said nearly $1,500 worth of household items were stolen, including televisions, phones and other electronic devices.

According to authorities, damage to other items amounted to around $1,500.

Authorities say Trimble may be driving a red Nissan SUV.

Authorities describe him as 5’6″ tall and weighing about 165 pounds.

It should be considered armed and dangerous.
