A suspected shoplifter at Walmart was caught with stolen binoculars and rope for which she did not pay.

Lucrecia Charron, 53, of Summerfield, was at the Summerfield store Friday night when she tried to make off with the binoculars and rope, as well as goggles, according to a police report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Charron, who has two previous convictions for theft, was recognized by a Walmart employee who followed her through the store. She hid the rope in her purse, stuffed the binoculars under some bags in her shopping cart, and hid the yellow goggles under a bag of Meow Mix cat food. She paid for other items at the self-checkout counter, but not the binoculars, rope, and goggles. The total value of these items was $39.46.

Charron, who was arrested in 2023 for driving without a license, was also found with methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in her purse.

Due to the previous theft convictions, Charron was arrested for theft and drug possession. She was also arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. She was booked into the Marion County Jail on $4,000 bail.
