Swiggy scam: Customer claims ‘gourmet’ pizzas come from a small shop selling under 14 restaurant names | Trends

A Redditor who ordered two pizzas from a fine-dining restaurant was in for a surprise when he realized that the food was from a small shop. When the user placed the order on Swiggy, he realized that the restaurant was just 1 km away from his home. He was worried and contacted Swiggy’s customer support, who informed him that a new branch had opened in the area.

So the Reddit user decided to take matters into his own hands and went to the location to check the restaurant. To his shock, he said, he found a small shop selling under the name of 14 restaurants.

He further explained, “I called Swiggy customer care again and they said they were sorry, we would cancel the order and refund the amount. So we took some photos and left. Swiggy being Swiggy, did not cancel the order but delivered it. I complained on Swiggy chat and got the entire amount refunded immediately without any questions asked. And after about 10 minutes, we got a call from the manager of ‘Olio’ asking about the taste of the pizzas (which are the worst by the way) and when confronted, he tried to explain that he has taken away representation from all the restaurants.”

In his post, he also shared pictures of the location and the conversation with Swiggy customer service.

This is how people reacted:

One person wrote: “Cloud kitchens do not have the necessary licenses and certainly do not have hygiene and safety certifications from the relevant authorities. I am glad that you got your money back without any fuss.”

Another person added, “Dude, what a coincidence, we live in the same area! Had pizza from Olio last Sunday. Just because we wanted to try something new and not Domino’s and Pizzahut (both nearby), we ordered from Olio because we thought it was gourmet as mentioned on Swiggy. The pizza tasted awful. After being annoyed with Zomato, now I can’t trust Swiggy either and I am sure that Swiggy reviews and gourmet category are a scam.”

“I also live near the railway station and noticed this some time ago and stopped ordering from those particular restaurants. I am glad someone else noticed it too. And why is there no good restaurant in Lingampally to order from?” commented a third.
