Taylor Swift’s support for Vice President Kamala Harris in an Instagram post Tuesday night resulted in at least 337,826 visitors to Vote.gov, a government website that directs users to state-specific election information, a U.S. General Services Administration spokesperson told CNBC.

Swift announced her support minutes after the end of the first debate between Harris and former President Donald Trump.

In her Instagram ad, the music superstar directed her followers to the website Vote.gov and urged them to do their own research and register to vote early.

“I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election,” Swift wrote. “I also find it much easier to vote early. I will post a link in my story to where you can register and where you can find early voting dates and information.”

Since 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Swift’s customized URL link to Vote.gov was responsible for a flood of Visitor traffic on the website.

Vote.gov has already experienced a Swift boost before.

Last year, Swift posted a similar link to the website Vote.gov to encourage her followers to register to vote. The site saw a 1,226% increase in traffic in the hour following Swift’s 2023 post, NPR reported last year.

After that post, the site had an average of 13,000 visitors every 30 minutes, Vote.org CEO Andrea Hailey told NPR.

Swift’s support for the presidency has already earned her the ire of Trump and his campaign team.

The Republican presidential candidate said in an interview with “Fox & Friends” on Wednesday morning that Swift would “probably pay a price in the market for it.”

His running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, echoed this bitter sentiment.

“We admire Taylor Swift’s music, but I don’t think most Americans – whether they like her music, are fans of her or not – are going to be influenced by a billionaire celebrity who, in my opinion, is fundamentally out of touch with the interests and issues of most Americans,” Vance said in an interview with Fox News on Wednesday.

Trump had previously indicated that he would accept Swift’s support if he got it.

When artificial intelligence-generated images of Swift’s support for Trump circulated on social media in August, Trump posted on his Truth Social account: “I accept.”

In her post Tuesday night, Swift said she endorsed Harris in part in response to those fake AI images.

“I recently became aware that a message was posted on his page in which ‘I’ falsely endorse Donald Trump’s candidacy for president,” the megastar wrote. “I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter.”
