Ted Baker will close all 31 remaining stores in the UK this week, resulting in more than 500 job losses.

The well-known fashion brand has been on our high streets for 36 years, but No Ordinary Designer Label (NODL), the company that ran the stores in the UK, went bankrupt in March this year.

This resulted in 15 stores being closed in April and 245 people losing their jobs.

On Sunday it was confirmed that the remaining branches will now remain closed permanently.

Numerous shops, including twelve in London and at airports around the capital, will close their doors by Tuesday this week.

Other major cities where Ted Baker will no longer operate include Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Manchester and Sheffield. Here is the full list of Ted Baker stores closing in the UK.

The insolvency administrator Teneo warned back in April that there was “no expectation” that the brand would ever become profitable again.

The final closures bring the total number of Ted Baker stores lost in 2024 to 46.

Co-administrator Benji Dymant said last month after the insolvency was announced: “Ted Baker is an iconic British brand with strong partners around the world.”

“While these store closures have an unfortunate impact on valued team members, they will enhance the company’s performance as Authentic continues to engage in discussions with potential UK and European operating partners for the Ted Baker brand to get the business back on its feet.”

“We would like to thank Ted Baker team members and partners for their continued efforts and support during this difficult time.”

The brand had already cut 160 jobs in 2020 and described 2019 as a “challenging year” after founder Ray Kelvin quit following allegations that he forced female employees to sit on his lap and hug him.

The 68-year-old, who founded the company in Scotland in 1988, was also accused of massaging employees and kissing their ears. However, he has always denied the allegations of wrongdoing.

Other retailers have also struggled in recent years, including Wilko, which went bankrupt although some stores are reopening.

Carpetright also collapsed and was forced to close all its stores, while an iconic group of London pubs could soon disappear from the scene after going bankrupt.
