A Gainesville teenager has been arrested and charged in connection with a burglary that left three elderly women injured and traumatized. The incident occurred Wednesday morning in East Hall County, according to a news release from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

Angel Juarez-Coreno, 15, is charged as an adult with three counts of first-degree burglary, armed robbery and exploitation of an elderly person. He is also charged with assault and obstructing an emergency call, the news release said.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:15 a.m. at a home in the 2000 block of Oconee Circle. According to a preliminary investigation, Juarez-Coreno entered the home without permission and shone a bright light into the eyes of three female victims. He then punched one of the women in the face as she tried to push him out the door, causing her nose to bleed.

“Juarez-Coreno threatened to shoot everyone in the house before stealing a television and a victim’s phone while she called 911,” said Derreck Booth, spokesman for the sheriff’s office. “He then left the house.”

According to Booth, the victims are 86, 76 and 65 years old.

The women notified authorities, who set up a cordon around the house and began tracking the suspects with sniffer dogs. At around 12:15 p.m., Booth said, the team found Juarez-Coreno at his apartment in the 2700 block of Oconee Drive.

After his arrest and booking, sheriff’s office deputies transported Juarez-Coreno to the Gainesville Regional Youth Detention Center.
