According to authorities, a well-known lawyer from Texas was shot dead by his wife in their lavish $1.6 million mansion. It was apparently a murder-suicide.

Jerry Hernandez, 61, and his wife Sonia Hernandez, 52, were found dead Wednesday morning in their luxury home in Shavano Park – about 13 miles outside of downtown San Antonio – city officials told News 4 San Antonio.

Authorities said the incident occurred shortly before 8 a.m. – just moments before they arrived at the residence in response to reports of gunshots.

The Bexar County coroner’s office ruled Jerry Hernandez’s death a homicide and Sonia Hernandez’s death a suicide, the outlet reported.

Authorities have not released any further details about the couple’s deaths, but said they are not looking for anyone else involved in the incident.

The 4,834-square-foot, four-bedroom, five-bathroom home was purchased in 2020, according to the listing.

According to his law firm, JVH Law, Jerry Hernandez has practiced personal injury law throughout his 32-year career.

A native of San Antonio, he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and received his law degree from California Western School of Law in 1988.

In 2017, Hernandez was named a top personal injury lawyer by SA Scene Magazine, according to the firm.

In his free time, he was an avid fan of the San Antonio Spurs and once coached an AAU girls’ basketball team to a championship.
