Apple’s iPad lineup has changed a lot in recent years, and the iPad Air is among the best options for people looking for a combination of power and portability. The latest model, the iPad Air 2024, is affordable, yet more powerful than the previous generation thanks to a new chip and other improvements. The starting price is $599, well below that of the iPad Pro, which it closely resembles. Factoring in some additional discounts we’ve rounded up around the web, that’s a great value considering this tablet’s capabilities.

The M2 iPad Air is available in a brand new 13-inch model in addition to the 11-inch variant. For most people, it’s a viable alternative to the more expensive iPad Pro, especially if you can find it at a cheaper price. The new iPad Air has a lot to excite buyers, including a fast chip and a beautiful display.

These iPad Airs feature the older Liquid Retina technology but don’t have the mini-LED of the previous Pro models or the tandem OLED of the latest M4 iPad Pro, but they’re still nothing to sneeze at.

How much does the iPad Air cost?

The 11-inch model of Apple’s latest iPad Air features horizontal speakers with spatial sound for an immersive listening experience, and the 13-inch model offers additional bass to boost the sound impact. While these tablets feature the slightly older M2 chip, they still promise plenty of power. The base 11-inch model with 128GB of storage is available for just $599, or you can upgrade to the 256GB model for $100 more. 512GB and 1TB models are also available for $899 and $1,099, respectively.

The iPad Air isn’t the only new option on the market. If you’re looking for a slightly more modern and rugged Apple tablet, the latest iPad Pro might be for you. These new Pro models promise to impress, with improvements to the placement of the FaceTime camera and a thinner design that makes the device more portable. If you opt for the Pro over the Air, you’ll easily ditch the M3 chip, as Apple has equipped the latest iPad Pro with the powerful M4 chip, which offers the power to handle its brand new Ultra Retina XDR OLED displays (with 1,600 nits of brightness in HDR) and more. These upgrades come at a price, with the base model starting at $999. You can pre-order the iPad Pro now.

We also expect to see plenty of deals on older iPad models soon, which could be a better option for budget-conscious buyers who don’t mind a previous generation model.
