The best MLB bets today (Yankees score against the Red Sox, Kumar Rocker debuts for Texas)

Tonight’s MLB schedule is small, but there are still plenty of ways to get in on the action!

We’re betting on the Yankees to beat the Red Sox tonight. We’re also hoping Seattle scores some runs. We’ve had a strong week. Let’s see if we can keep it up!

New York Yankees -1.5 (+110) vs. Boston Red Sox

Red Sox vs. Yankees are always an exciting matchup and the games are often close. However, tonight we’re favoring the home team and betting that they will cover the run line.

Nestor Cortes is the starter for the Yankees and although he has had a few struggles since the All-Star break, Cortes is usually dominant at home.

He has an ERA of just 3.19 at Yankees Stadium this season, compared to 4.81 away. In his only home game against the Red Sox this season, he allowed just three hits and one earned run, resulting in a batting average of .143 and an ERA of 1.50.

The Red Sox have been sluggish of late, scoring just 3.90 runs per game in September (19th), and that number was even lower in four September road games (1.75 runs per game, which is last in MLB). Even a lackluster Yankees bullpen should be able to keep them in check.

Cooper Criswell will start for the Red Sox. Criswell has similar home/away splits. His home ERA is 3.80, while his away ERA is 4.43.

Unfortunately, the Red Sox are the away team tonight. But maybe that doesn’t matter. In just five innings pitched against the Yankees this season (two games), he has a 5.40 ERA with a .289 batting average allowed. That could mean trouble against a lineup that includes Aaron Judge and Juan Soto.

Now we add in Boston’s terrible bullpen, which has a 6.04 ERA since August 1, and bet on the Yankees to cover the run line.

Rangers at Mariners over 6.5 runs (-120)

If a line is only 6.5, I immediately have to go over. That’s low.

The Mariners are averaging 5.40 runs per game in September (fourth). Those splits are lower at home, but I still trust them against Kumar Rocker, who is making his major league debut, and a Rangers bullpen with a 5.10 ERA in September (22nd).

Bryce Miller will start for the M’s and has been excellent at home this season with a 2.03 ERA. The Rangers have averaged 4.80 runs per game this month (8th) and should be able to add a few runs against the Mariners’ strong pitching as well.

The game odds are updated regularly and are subject to change.
