Growing and harvesting crops is one of the best ways to make money in Stardew Valley, and the summer season offers some great opportunities to maximize your profits. Summer offers several excellent opportunities to make money, but there are also some crops that aren’t really worth growing due to the low profits.
Best summer crops
The best crops to grow profitably in the summer are blueberries, melons, starfruit, and red cabbage. Starfruit seeds are only profitable when purchased from the Oasis Shop or made by a seed producer, and red cabbage is only available from Pierre after the second year. The absolute best option is blueberries, as the plants continue to reproduce throughout the season, so you don’t need to buy new seeds. Each plant produces several blueberries each time it is harvested, dramatically increasing the overall value of the crop.
While it may be tempting to focus only on the most productive crops, if you take the Community Center route, you’ll need a variety of crops to complete the packages needed to unlock the Greenhouse.
More Stardew Valley guides:
Much like cauliflower in the spring, melons are profitable, but because of their long growing season, you will only make money twice during the season. If you want to spread your income a little better, it’s good to mix some crops with shorter turnaround times. Corn is also a great crop to plant. Although it is not as profitable with every harvest, corn continues to produce yield and is a hybrid crop that can grow in the summer and fall. This means that you can plant a corn field at the beginning of the summer and it will produce corn by the end of the fall.
Below is a table showing all the spring crops, their seed cost, harvest time, and sell prices. All of these numbers do not include any possible bonuses such as faster growth time or better sell prices. Seed costs are based on Pierre’s store unless noted as coming from another vendor.
