He made his way into film history as Chunk in “The Goonies”.

In 2015, 50-year-old Jeff announced that the loss of his baby fat meant the end of his acting career.

The former child star, who is now a successful entertainment lawyer, had to leave Hollywood for good when he could no longer apply for the roles of the “fat kid”.

“Basically, there were about four fat kids in town, so you saw the same people every time you auditioned for the role of a fat kid,” said the 40-year-old lawyer.

“It was survival of the fattest. But when I hit puberty, that was the end of my career. I went from being fat to being pretty and stopped getting roles.”

Jeff continued, “It was horrible. My first love was acting, but puberty had other plans. I was forced into retreat. I didn’t give up acting. Acting gave up on me.”

In his Beverly Hills office, where he is now a partner in his own law firm, Cohen Gardner LLC, Cohen makes no attempt to hide his Goonies past.

The 53-year-old has proven himself to be a Hollywood darling after his role in Everything Everywhere All At Once

Actor Ke Huy Quan won an Oscar in 2023, nearly 40 years after he first rose to fame through appearances in ’80s classics such as “The Goonies” and “Indiana Jones.”

The 53-year-old has proven himself to be a real Hollywood darling after his role in “Everything Everywhere All At Once”.

However, he has been working as an actor for decades but has not yet received any major awards for his work.

In fact, he became an actor at the age of 12 and played the lead role of the sidekick in the film “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” directed by Harrison Ford.

Temple of Doom became a worldwide hit, although some audiences found the film too dark and violent. It was also instrumental in the introduction of the PG-13 rating for films that were too adult for children but did not meet the requirements for an R rating.

After appearing in Steven Spielberg’s film, Quan appeared the following year in the cult film “The Goonies”, based on a story by Spielberg and directed by Richard Donner.

But despite prominent roles in two major cultural films, opportunities for the Vietnamese-born actor began to dry up in the late 1980s and 1990s.

After giving up his acting career in the late 1990s, he enrolled in the University of Southern California’s film program to explore new opportunities.

He worked as a fight choreographer on “X-Men” in 2000 and was assistant director to the acclaimed Hong Kong director Wong Kar Wai on his science fiction romance film “2046”.

After the success of Crazy Rich Asians, Quan felt that Hollywood was more open to Asian actors and began actively pursuing projects again.
