The DIFF Shorts Film Festival takes place this weekend in Dallas.

The festival will showcase over 100 original films divided into 14 thematic blocks: Animated Shorts, Sports Shorts, High School Shorts, Latino Shorts, Music Videos, Documentary Shorts, Narrative Shorts 1: Trapped, Narrative Shorts 2: Futurism, Narrative Shorts 3: Grief, Narrative Shorts 4: Mental Health, Narrative Shorts 5: Growing Up; Narrative Shorts 6: Relationships; Late Night Shorts 1 and Late Night Shorts 2.

“With this first festival we want to promote the art of short film and we have some gems in
our program of more than 100 short films,” said James Faust, DIFF artistic director. “There is a lot for short film lovers to be excited about and we are excited to add this festival to the Dallas film scene. As many wonder if we will continue to go to the theater to watch films, we want to give meaning to the cinema experience as it brings people together to explore art, in this case short films, which often do not have a public platform.”

Awards will be given for best short film, best Texas film, best music video, best student film, best documentary and best first-time filmmaker. Festival passes are available for $75.
