Is anyone else feeling a post-fiesta lull this week? Scout, for example, is more than happy to put away her sombrero and resume the relaxed pace of her life full of naps and walks. I enjoyed the fiesta, but I’m thankful I had some time to catch up this week; I was even able to attend a few open houses:

This Riviera beauty featured some of my favorite things: beautiful views, a walking trail, and a spectacular home with dazzling details. The home, located at 1600 Mira Vista Avenue, is a four-bedroom, three-bath Mediterranean-style home at the end of a scenic private road. You’ll remember that Thursday was the only day this week that our “fogust” marine layer hung over the city until well after noon. I arrived here just as the clouds were parting, offering an incredible view that reminded why Santa Barbara is called the American Riviera.

There’s a wraparound deck on the main floor and a huge private patio, seen here, just outside the private master suite on the second floor. I’d love to spend every waking hour in these outdoor spaces, but the interior of the home is so inviting that I’d be comfortable inside, too. And perhaps my favorite feature isn’t even on the property itself.

Right off the driveway, there is an entrance to a path to Franceschi Park, which definitely drew me in. There will be no public tours for this home, but realtor Jessie Sessions tells me she would be happy to show it to interested buyers. Be sure to check out the views, the path, and every inch of this beautiful home!

This isn’t exactly real estate news, but somehow cars and houses seem to go together, right? Plus, that sounds like fun in the sun. Today is the Auto Expo, presented by local nonprofit The Community Hot Rod Project. Their stated mission is to offer vocational training programs that give “the young and the young at heart” the skills necessary to build “rolling works of art.” The expo promises more than 400 cars, trucks and motorcycles from the early 20th century to today. It takes place today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at one of my favorite spots, the big lawn on SBCC’s west campus. Beautiful views are guaranteed!

Here is this week’s edition of Independentfront and back, full of fun things to do, news to inform and inspire, and open days aplenty. Scout and I will be working in the garden today. The plan will probably involve me weeding and planting, with Scout overseeing my efforts. If all goes well, I will share ‘our’ handiwork with you soon. However you choose to spend your Sunday, enjoy it!
