Fully loaded, the Hummer EV comes in at a price that makes it the most expensive pickup truck in America.

The market for premium electric trucks is still small

The premium electric truck market is still in its infancy, with only a handful of models available to consumers. Despite the limited choice, competition is fierce as manufacturers vie to offer the most advanced and luxurious trucks to a market willing to pay top dollar. The introduction of premium electric trucks has redefined what consumers expect from a pickup truck, combining the ruggedness and capability of traditional trucks with the modern technology of electric vehicles.

But newer technology and luxury features also mean a high price. The average price of a new vehicle in America is steadily rising, and the electric truck segment is no exception. The Rivian R1T, for example, starts at under $70,000, with fully equipped versions well into the six-figure range. The Ford F-150 Lightning was initially the cheapest of the electric trucks, but can cost up to $90,000 with full options.

But the GMC Hummer EV 3X sits at the top of this small but competitive market, especially with the top-spec Omega Edition. It’s an example of what a fully-equipped pickup truck can be, offering a combination of performance, design and features that justifies its eye-watering price.

With an MSRP of $150,295 – more expensive than a fully loaded BMW 7 Series – the GMC Hummer EV 3X Omega Edition is the crown jewel of luxury electric pickup trucks. Visually, it immediately stands out thanks to its exclusive Neptune Blue Matte exterior paint. This is complemented by unique GMC badging and distinctive 18-inch beadlock-capable wheels with 35-inch all-terrain tires that give the truck both an aggressive stance and exceptional off-road capability.

Under the hood – or rather under the floor – lies the heart of the Hummer EV 3X Omega Edition: its powerful electric powertrain. As the name suggests, it has three electric motors that together produce 1,000 horsepower and a staggering 11,500 lb-ft of torque (at the wheels). Watt to freedom Thanks to the launch control feature, this tremendous power allows the truck to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3 seconds. The Ultium battery in the Omega Edition is larger and has a GM-estimated range of 359 miles when fully charged.

Filled to the brim with features

The Omega Edition’s cabin has all the bells and whistles. It’s finished with premium materials including Omega Edition embossed leather seats and you can choose between dark and light themes for no extra charge. There are also premium floor mats with carpet insert and what’s known as an “Infinity Roof” with removable transparent “Sky Panels.” The infotainment system is a 13.4-inch touchscreen display with access to a range of connectivity options, as well as a Kicker MultiPro Tailgate audio system that features a weatherproof amplifier hidden in the tailgate.

In addition to GM’s Super Cruise package with advanced driver assistance features, this trim makes the Extreme Off-Road package mandatory, which includes underbody protection, rock sliders and skid plates, ensuring the truck can handle even the toughest off-road conditions. Electronic locking differentials front and rear are also included, as is four-wheel steering that enables a CrabWalk mode that allows the truck to move diagonally.

And yet there are still more options available

The Omega Edition and Extreme Off-Road packages make up a large portion of this electric truck’s price, but you still have room for other options you might find handy. Hummer EV buyers can choose between the Lifestyle Adventure Package ($5,595), which adds an 80-inch premium tent from Freespirit Recreation and additional roof storage, and the Off-Road Readiness Package ($3,995), which includes tools and a towing kit. There’s also an Illumination Package ($1,995), which adds auxiliary headlights, step lights and an LED projection of the Hummer EV logo.

With all the available packages (and a $2,295 delivery fee), the price of the Hummer EV 3X Omega Edition rises to $159,124. But beyond those packages, there are more than a handful of dealer-installed accessories that let you expand storage options and maximize the utility of the electric vehicle. With all the possible options, it costs over $20,000 more, which should bring the price of the Hummer EV 3X Omega Edition close to the $200,000 mark.

The next best thing

To fully compare the price of the GMC Hummer EV 3X Omega Edition, let’s look at its competitors in the premium electric vehicle segment. The Rivian R1T, which has been significantly redesigned for the 2025 model year, starts at around $69,900; the current top-of-the-line R1T model is the Ascend Tri Max, which starts at $99,900 without any optional equipment. However, Rivian’s most expensive truck is the Ascend Quad Max, which comes with four electric motors and is estimated to cost over $120,000 when it launches next year. The Ford F-150 Lightning, meanwhile, starts at a more modest price of around $50,000. However, a fully loaded version with an Extended Range battery, Platinum trim, and all available options can easily cost over $96,000.

The Tesla Cybertruck comes closest to the GMC, with a price tag of $119,990 for the top-trim Cyberbeast. However, the range extender battery, which increases range from an estimated 301 to over 440 miles and is installed in the bed of the truck, costs another $16,000, bringing the total price to $135,990. Even Elon Musk thinks that price is too high, but it’s still several tens of thousands of dollars less than the fully-equipped GMC Hummer EV 3X.
