The North Face is bringing its Climb Festival to New York City for the first time this weekend.
The two-day festival will take place on August 23 and 24 at Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 5. Admission is free and the event is open to the public. Events begin at 10 a.m. on both days.
Climbing enthusiasts must face a 16-meter-high wall with deep water beneath to break their fall. The event includes paraclimbing competitions, panel discussions on climbing culture and building outdoor communities, live performances by concert collective Renegade, guest bouldering walls hosted by Movement Gyms, an artist integration by Snoeman, and DJ sets with Las Flaquitas, Eden, Toribio, and Cosmo.
Special guests including The North Face athlete Alex Honnold and climbing legend Chris Sharma will host the festivities and announce this year’s festival winner. Additional appearances will include The North Face athletes Brooke Raboutou, Nathaniel Coleman, Sam Elias, Matt Segal, Ben Mayforth, Anna Pfaff, Margo Hayes, Matty Hong and Mo Beck.
Food trucks from local restaurants will be on site throughout the festival and exclusive merchandise will be available for purchase ranging in price from $35 to $85.
