WEATHERFORD – Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) is pleased to announce a new partnership with the People of Oklahoma Oil and Natural Gas that will benefit SWOSU athletics for the 2024-2025 season.
The folks at Oklahoma Oil and Natural Gas will serve as the title sponsor for SWOSU volleyball during the 2024-25 season. In addition, the folks at Oklahoma Oil and Natural Gas will provide additional sponsorship support for SWOSU football, SWOSU soccer, and SWOSU men’s and women’s basketball during the academic year.
“This is the first time the folks at Oklahoma Oil and Natural Gas have sponsor Division II athletics in Oklahoma,” said SWOSU athletic director Todd Helton. “The folks at Oklahoma Oil and Natural Gas have chosen just a few universities to partner with this season and we are very happy and deeply grateful that SWOSU is one of them.”
The People of Oklahoma Oil and Natural Gas was created by the state legislature in 1993 at the request of the oil and natural gas industry. The mission of the People of Oklahoma Oil and Natural Gas is to educate the public on the importance of Oklahoma’s oil and natural gas exploration and production industry, promote wise and efficient use of energy, support environmentally sound production methods and technologies, develop Oklahoma’s existing oil and natural gas resources, support research and educational activities related to the oil and natural gas exploration and production industry, and promote the remediation of historic oil field environmental problems. Since 1993, the People of Oklahoma Oil and Natural Gas have cleaned up more than 20,000 historic well sites at no cost to landowners and provided millions of dollars worth of educational materials to Oklahoma schools at no cost.
