The Repair Shop has become a regular feature of Wednesday evenings, offering us a life-affirming alternative to throwaway culture while celebrating essential craftsmanship.
And we’re so glad it’s back on our screens. The Repair Shop has returned to BBC One, with the next episode airing on Wednesday 10 April at 8pm. Episodes are also available on BBC iPlayer.
Many of us cried tears of joy as Jay Blades and his talented team of artisans including Dom Chinea and Will Kirk meticulously restored discarded treasures and heirlooms with sentimental value to their original glory, bringing tears of joy to their owners as well.
Jay Blades shared the news of the new series on Instagram. He shared a picture of himself with some of the talented cast and wrote: “Good morning everyone, @therepairshoptv’s BRANDED SERIES starts NEXT WEDNESDAY. We can’t wait for you to see it.”
Ahead of the new series, some of the brilliant experts shared their most rewarding and challenging moments on the show. Carpenter Will Kirk revealed which projects he enjoys the most.
He said: “I love all the furniture that looks like it should be thrown in the trash. Things that are really bad and you just think it’s impossible to fix until you can fix it. It’s a reward for me because it tests my skills and my patience.”
Watchmaker Steve Fletcher revealed that his most difficult repair was carried out on a very famous guest on the show. He said: “One of my most difficult repairs was a watch that was commissioned by the then Prince of Wales.”
“It was in the hands of so many watchmakers and I had to find a way to make it work, which was really difficult and created a lot of pressure.”
This series will feature everything from cowboy boots associated with pop legend Elton John to an armchair that tells a poignant story about the AIDS crisis of the 1980s.
The Barn will welcome a new expert: Rebecca Bissonnet, an experienced textile restorer. She has worked on countless priceless objects, including Queen Elizabeth’s coronation dress.
Speaking about the new series, Jay said: “If you’re really excited that The Repair Shop is coming back, you’re not the only one. We work really hard to make people’s dreams come true and to be able to show you what we’ve been doing is so exciting.”
“The show is going from strength to strength and I think that’s simply because it’s about community. It’s about working together as a team and achieving a common goal for someone.”
The craft show even won an award at the National Television Awards (NTAs) on September 4, taking home the trophy for Best Daytime TV Show.
Presenter Jay Blades shared a photo of the trophy on Instagram with the caption, “THOUGHT OF THE DAY. We won the @officialntas.”
He added: “Well done @therepairshoptv team.”
So far, the clever team at the repair shop have repaired everything from Olympic diving medals to beekeeping equipment, from ceramic dogs to a Victoria diorama, and in the process uncovered the fascinating stories behind the possessions.

Where is The Repair Shop filmed?
The Repair Shop was filmed at the Weald and Downland Living Museum in Singleton, West Sussex. The set is located in the museum’s Court Barn, which is closed to the public during filming.

How to apply for The Repair Shop
If you own an item with sentimental value that needs to be given new life, you can submit a request for restoration on the show.
You can apply through an online application form on the website of Ricochet, the production company that produces the show. All applicants must be at least 18 years old.
