The Repair Shop’s in-house watchmaker, Steve Fletcher, has announced that his son Fred will return to join him on the show.

Fletcher posted a short clip with Fred on Instagram, explaining that his son has returned to the barn and is working on his own creation.

Steve praised Fred’s talent, saying the young watchmaker was doing his job “very, very well” and calling him a “real natural talent.”

“Look who’s back on @therepairshoptv! My son and apprentice @fredfletcher.clocks has to fix his own part this time and does a great job,” Steve captioned the video, adding that he was “very proud!” of Fred.

News of Fred joining The Repair Shop and working alone on an item in need of some TLC has delighted viewers, with many congratulating the father-son duo in the comments section.

“Wonderful! It’s so great to know that these skills are being carried on to the next generation,” wrote one person, while another praised Steve’s teaching skills, noting: “Of course he does it very well, he was trained by the best!”

“There’s nothing better than sharing your craft with your kids. I love it,” said another fan of the show.

Meanwhile, the popular BBC show is taking the repair business on the road with a new spinoff called The Repair Shop on the Road. Announced in June, the series will see the team go on tour restoring people’s treasures to their former glory.

In May, it was reported that host Jay Blades would be taking a break from the main show and filming for the next season would begin without him.

The repair shop will be broadcast on BBC One and streamed on BBC iPlayer.
