INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Central Indiana is enjoying fantastic weather, providing the perfect opportunity to visit the International Space Station.

There are usually many space station flybys in a month, but most are too low on the horizon for us to see them. Not to mention that sometimes our weather doesn’t cooperate for some of the best viewing opportunities.

Indianapolis will be visible twice over the next two mornings. Mostly clear skies are forecast for each of those days.

Thursday morning’s flyby will begin at 6:14 a.m. EDT and last six minutes, reaching a maximum altitude of 36 degrees, with the space station first appearing on the western horizon and ending on the northeastern horizon.

Friday’s flyby will be a little higher in the sky and more visible. This pass will begin 49 degrees above the western horizon and end low on the northeastern horizon. This flyby will last only four minutes, which is shorter than Thursday’s flyby.

These times are all for Indianapolis for the upcoming flyovers. If you would like to find out the times for your specific location, visit the Spot the Station website here. There will be few flyovers more visible than the next two mornings until the end of August.
