The worst grocery store in New Jersey

The worst grocery store in New Jersey

How bad does a grocery store have to be to earn the title of “Worst Grocery Store in America”?

That’s quite a statement, so let’s take a closer look.

Having worked at Shoprite as a teenager, I know first-hand how difficult it is to run a grocery store.

There are so many aspects that contribute to a pleasant shopping experience.

How the brave men and women in the grocery stores keep the peace is a mystery to me.

Think of all the different departments that have to work together harmoniously.

I know I’m probably missing some for dairy, fruits and vegetables, front end, meat, seafood, prepared meals, frozen foods, pharmacy, flowers and baked goods.

Prices are also an important factor.

We all know that Whole Foods is much more expensive than, say, Lidl. However, I have found that Shoprite is almost always cheaper than Stop & Shop.

This must have an impact on the overall grade.

The Fiscal Times has released its list of the 12 worst grocery stores in America.

Full disclosure: The now-defunct A&P and Pathmark stores were rated lower than the grocery store I’m about to introduce to you.

Interesting fact: Pathmark has made a comeback.

After closing all of its stores at the end of 2015, the company has now reopened a single location in Brooklyn.

The “worst grocery store in America” is no stranger to anyone in New Jersey.

ACME. I was shocked.

I have always had good experiences with ACME and cannot report anything negative.

From The Fiscal Times:

Acme’s drawback was the price, which received an unsatisfactory rating, while survey respondents were fairly satisfied with the cleanliness and remained neutral regarding the quality of the food and service.

Oh, people weren’t happy when ACME ended its free turkey promotion either. Now that’s something.

I never realized that ACME was much more expensive than other grocery stores. Am I wrong? Let me know what you think. [email protected].
