The WSDCA Summer Sale helps families across the region

The WSDCA Summer Sale helps families across the region

RAPID CITY, SD (KOTA) – Every child deserves to be able to shop for school supplies. That’s one reason Western South Dakota Community Action is hosting its summer sale.

The sale, which will take place at WSDCA’s headquarters in East Rapid City, is part of the nonprofit’s mission to help families in need throughout western South Dakota.

With a special focus on back-to-school items, the organization aims to ease the financial burden on many families as they prepare for the new school year.

The sale takes place Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features a wide assortment of clothing, dorm refrigerators, microwaves, televisions, antiques and more.

Proceeds go directly to WSDCA’s programs, helping them support those in need throughout the region.

“We don’t really want to make a lot of money from our thrift store. We want it to be available to people who need something. If they can come in, spend $10 and go home with some dishes or appliances for their kitchen, that empowers them and that’s what we want,” says Shawn Burke, executive director of the WSDCA.

Burke encourages families to come by, shop and take advantage of the offerings while contributing to a good cause.
