There is already enough – Park Record

The August 10 Park Record article discussed possible plans for the Kimball Junction transit center area.

Canice Harte spoke in favour of creating meaningful spaces that not only residents but other people in the area would enjoy visiting. The ideas proposed for the area, such as green spaces, amphitheatres, water features etc., already exist across the road. Harte said, “We don’t really have much of that in the community.” We have enough of it in the area.

The committee is right when it says that this kind of thing attracts people from outside. How will the extra traffic be managed when the traffic that is already causing significant delays on the other side of the road has not even been managed?

Due to a lane closure on I-40, it took an hour to get from Kimball Junction to Park City Hospital at 6 p.m. on a recent Wednesday night, and it’s just as bad during ski season.

The population density in this area is high enough and more commercial and residential buildings would only cause traffic gridlock. Any buildings above the road would destroy the calming mountain views enjoyed by Kimball Junction residents.
