It happened in the early hours of August 10 and was captured on surveillance video.

“He called me and I could tell he was close to tears,” said Kati Davis. “When he told me the trailer had been stolen, my heart sank.”

Kati and her husband Jordan Davis were just one step away from making their dream come true.

They named their nonprofit brand “The Smoking Pastor Project,” which aims to provide free food to communities in need.

“We worked so hard to get this done and now we’re just disappointed,” Jordan Davis said.

Thieves in a black pickup truck stole a church food truck in the 9000 block of Haverstick Road around midnight.

“Three cars came in at about the same time and a dark truck pulled them out,” Davis said. “It’s really hard to tell the make and model just from the reflection of the trailer.”

“We haven’t been able to use it yet and show what’s possible with this trailer,” Davis said.

The Carters say they will not let that stop them from serving the communities in the Nora and Washington Township area.

“Our goal is to continue doing what we do, with or without the food truck,” Davis said. “It’s not going to stop us and we know we have a mission and we’re going to accomplish that mission.”

If you recognize the truck in the video or know anything about the incident, contact IMPD.
