To be honest, I haven’t worn a watch in years. I’m just not that into accessories. I don’t even have pierced ears and I can’t remember the last time I wore jewelry. But when I visited my sister recently, I started to get quite jealous of her. Apple Watch and all its many functions.

I could never imagine paying the high price for a device like yours, especially since I don’t know how much I would wear it. Instead, I bought the AITAFY Smartwatch out of Amazon Canada as a cost-effective alternative. It retails at $50, but right now it’s on sale for just $38 thanks to a great Amazon coupon.

With its square screen and fitness features, a watch newbie like me was easily impressed by its similarity – both in looks and features – to its expensive competitor. Since I received the AITAFY smartwatch a month ago, I haven’t left the house without it.

It’s so easy to use, allows me to step away from my phone, and has even helped me sleep better. While it can’t do everything an Apple Watch can, that’s fine with me. To read my full review, scroll down.

What I like about it

It looks exactly like an Apple Watch: OK, maybe I’m superficial, but I like that it’s easy to mistake it for its more expensive counterpart at first glance. Even my sister said: Wait, did you get an Apple Watch?

It meets all my requirements: Receive messages? Done. Monitor my sleep patterns? Done. Make sure I never miss a call? Done too. It does everything I hoped it would and more.

It’s super cheap: A watch with high-tech features for under $50? You can’t beat that. And since I have two young children with a penchant for destruction, it’s not the end of the world if this watch breaks or gets lost (although I would never tell them that!)

Easy to use: It didn’t take long to set up the watch and pair it with my phone. The VeryFit app it works with is great and I can even add family members so we can all stay connected. I’m buying this watch for my almost 80 year old parents. Seriously, it’s so easy to use!

Room for improvement

The battery life is not quite as stated: I would say the watch’s battery lasts about three to four days. That’s fine, but to say it lasts seven days is definitely an exaggeration.

You cannot reply to texts: It doesn’t really bother me, but I know some people find it annoying. It would be nice to be able to reply to a text message, but for me it’s not worth buying a more expensive watch just for this feature.

The verdict

I wear this watch in the last month, which is already a personal record for me. It allows me to get some distance from all the apps on my phone and switch off a bit. I’ll never miss a call from my son’s school again, but I can also leave my phone in another room and be more present in everything I’m doing.

The device does not allow you to reply to messages, so if that is important to you, it might be worth considering a more expensive model. Also, I wouldn’t rely on it for long trips without power, as the battery does not last as long as advertised. For me, this watch is great. And if my four-year-old accidentally throws it in our pool because “I just wanted to see if it floats, Mom,” I will Survive.
