This Texas airport requires longer walking distances than any other

This Texas airport requires longer walking distances than any other

If there were an “Olympics for normal people,” I would suggest one: “Fast walking between airport gates.” This may seem silly until you realize how FAR some of these distances can be.

Although walking through an airport isn’t that bad as long as you’re not in a rush to catch a connecting flight or something. There are plenty of snacks, bars, people watching, and it’s ALWAYS cool to watch planes take off and land!

Anyway…

There’s new data that shows which airports have the longest walks, and some of them ACTUALLY force you to take a few steps!

Here are the top 5. And it’s worth noting that the distances only apply from the baggage drop-off area to the furthest gates. Between two gates at opposite ends, the distances could be even greater.

  1. Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport – Longest distance: 2.16 miles.
  2. Washington Dulles International Airport – Longest distance: 2.61 km.
  3. George Bush International Airport in Houston – Longest distance: 2.44 km.
  4. Denver International Airport – Longest distance: 2.33 km.
  5. JFK International Airport in New York – Longest distance: 2.22 kilometers.

Here’s what I found out while researching this story:

King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, is the world’s largest airport by area. It covers 760 square kilometers, which is about the size of New York City. It is more than ten times larger than Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport! That’s HUGE!

Here are the top 5 BIGGEST in the world:

  1. King Fahd International (DMM) – 300 square miles. …
  2. Denver International Airport (DEN) – 53 square miles. …
  3. Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) – 39 square miles. …
  4. Istanbul Airport (IST) – 30 square miles. ..
  5. Dallas/Fort Wort International Airport (DFW) – 27 square miles

Here is a video showing how big King Fahd International Airport actually is:
