Dogs really have it all, and nowhere is this more evident than in the plush beds we buy them to lounge in all day. Finally, there is a human-dog bed. It is called Pluff and it might be the best place ever to take a nap.
After learning about the Pluff and when I looked at the pictures of happy owners curled up in the cozy embrace of the bed-sofa-chair, I decided I had to have one. Or at least try one out – you know, for research. My $299 beige Plufl arrived in a large box with easy assembly instructions. After stuffing two awkward noodle-shaped side pillows into the plush cover and sandwiching an oval memory foam mattress between them.
I zipped the ends up and then it was time for Plufl.
What is the Plufl
A cross between a beanbag, hammock and plush bed, the Plufl is the most comfortable piece of furniture I own. The shape is the Plufl’s key advantage: it has a built-in headrest, footrest and a round gap where you can wedge your hands and feet for tactile comfort and security.
It’s designed for lounging or napping, but you can easily use it as a guest bed for a not-so-tall house guest. One problem with the Plufl is that a quick rest can turn into an hours-long nap without warning – even for me, a normally rough sleeper.
The Plush Bed for Human Dogs is available in two sizes and four colors. It is made of soft polyester plush fabric that is non-itchy, non-irritating, and breathes better than most polyester fabrics. It also features a medium-firm and comfortable memory foam bottom. The Plufl cradles you gently without swallowing you whole.
It doesn’t exactly scream chic
As much as I want a Plufl in every room, it doesn’t quite fit in with the rest of my house’s decor. And that’s the glaring problem with Plufl: where exactly should I put it?
I’m not sure yet which room the Plufl will live in, but I know he won’t be leaving the house. The bed is pretty heavy – 25 pounds and oddly shaped – but with the sewn-in handles, it’s easy enough to pull from room to room. You wouldn’t want to be constantly carrying it up and down stairs, though.
You can buy the human-dog bed for $299 ($399 for the larger size) on Amazon or Plufl’s website.
