Three months have passed and Thor is still waiting for a home at the Wood County Dog Shelter.

Thor is a one-year-old American Bulldog who came to the shelter as a stray in early May. According to head dog warden Jodi Harding, he can be a little shy at first, “but once he warms up, he’s your best friend.”

Thor lives for food and will do anything for a reward, Harding said. He has some health issues that are being treated at the shelter and is doing very well, she added.

“He loves everyone at the shelter, but would rather be in his forever home,” Harding said.

Thor is neutered, vaccinated and free of heartworms. He gets along well with the other dogs at the shelter, but prefers quiet dogs. The director recommends that everyone in the adoptive family – two-legged or four-legged – get to know Thor to make sure he’s a good fit for the home.

The adoption fee for all shelter dogs is $89, which includes a $14 Wood County dog tax return and a $75 veterinary voucher for spay/neuter and vaccinations, if needed.

Shelter hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The shelter is closed on Sundays. The Wood County Dog Shelter is located at 1912 E. Gypsy Lane Road, Bowling Green, phone 419-354-9242.
