BROCKTON, Massachusetts (WLNE) – Three men have been charged with murder in a shooting at a restaurant in January, according to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz.

Jamal Bazile, 18, of Brockton, was charged with murder, possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition and other offenses.

23-year-old Nathan Veiga is also charged with murder.

Nicholas Veiga, 21, was charged with fentanyl trafficking.

The incident occurred on January 12 at around 7:24 p.m. when Brockton police responded to calls about a shooting at the Hibachi Sushi Supreme Buffet on Crescent Street.

Joe Araujo, 22, of Brockton was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was pronounced dead from gunshot wounds to the abdomen and leg.

Brockton police and the Massachusetts State Police Criminal Investigation Department investigated the case using surveillance footage from a restaurant that captured the shooting.

Bazile was identified as a man wearing a distinctive jacket and sneakers who allegedly dropped a to-go box, pulled out a firearm and shot Araujo three times, hitting him twice.

While executing a search warrant for Veiga’s apartment, police found the jacket the suspect was wearing in the video.

During the search, a large quantity of fentanyl was seized and Veiga was arrested.

Bazile was tracked down and arrested at a home in Hyannis after allegedly attacking police officers.

According to police, he had a loaded 9mm pistol.

Charges against them will be brought at a later date in Brockton Superior Court.
