Sanders finished Colorado’s 31-26 win over South Dakota State completing 26 of 34 passes for 445 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. No quarterback completed more passes than him in Week 1, so Tebow is excited to see what he can do against the Huskers’ defense on Saturday.

“I can’t wait to see Shedeur,” Tebow said Saturday on SportsCenter. “If you look at what he did in Week 1 against a really good opponent – he did everything. You put back braces on him and he says, ‘I can carry more. Give me more, coach.’ Whatever you want to say, this kid means it.

“The way he adjusts in the pocket, the way he maneuvers in the pocket, the way he throws when he gets hit… He turns the momentum around and he’s done that from day one.”

Raiola, the top-notch first-year quarterback, has one game of college experience under his belt, but that was enough to impress Tebow in the Huskers’ 40-7 Week 1 win over UTEP.

He finished the game completing 19 of 27 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns before being taken out of the game early when head coach Matt Rhule took his starters out of the game in the second half.

“Dylan Raiola, Week 1, steps up and throws dimes everywhere,” Tebow said. “Everyone wants to make the comparison to Patrick Mahomes because of their throwing motions, and you know, there are some similarities. I know he wears the number, I know he looks the part, but you know what? Sometimes we make those comparisons too early, but the way that kid maneuvers in the pocket and his accuracy from different angles — he’s got so much talent.

“I can’t wait to watch this quarterback duel – probably the best of the day.”

Kickoff between the Buffs and Huskers is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
