Titans take a 10-7 lead just before halftime

The Titans controlled the game against the Jets for much of the first half, but two turnovers by Will Levis helped keep the game closer than it should have been.

Levis lost a fumble on a careless backflip while trying to evade pressure inside the Jets’ 10-yard line, then threw an interception on the first play of the next drive. The Jets converted that mistake into their first touchdown of the game, and Levis led a field goal drive just before halftime that gave the Titans a 10-7 lead.

Levis now has five turnovers in two games, and Sunday’s turnovers marred what was an overall strong half for the quarterback in his second year. He completed 11 of 13 passes for 115 yards and the Titans outscored the Jets 152-93 in the first 30 minutes.

They also benefited from two personal fouls by the Jets, including a hit on a defenseless receiver that allowed Nick Folks to score a field goal at the end of the half.

Aaron Rodgers completed 10 of 15 passes for 82 yards and scored a touchdown to rookie running back Braelon Allen. The scoring drive came after three punts by the Jets to start the game, but the scoring drive was something they could build on when they got the ball after halftime.

Whatever their offense does, the defense will have to do more to stop the Titans if Levis doesn’t shoot them in the foot. Linebacker CJ Mosley left with a foot injury and his return is questionable, so he may not be part of that effort.
