Todd Monken tries to find creative ways to use WR Zay Flowers

The Baltimore Ravens selected wide receiver Zay Flowers in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He had a phenomenal rookie season and looks to build on that next year as the team’s undisputed No. 1 wide receiver.

When asked about Flowers, Baltimore offensive coordinator Todd Monken said he wants to find more opportunities to get the second-year wide receiver involved this season. He talked about Flowers’ confidence over the course of last year and how he became more involved as he gained experience.

“Well, you could see it throughout the year — you could see it all year: his development, his confidence, his ability to be engaged. I think that’s the most important thing. You can see that in players as they gain experience — they’re confident to engage on the field and in meetings, to ask questions, to have ideas, to voice thoughts. Like, ‘Can we do it like this? How about this? How about that?’ When you’re younger, you just try to learn — it’s hard to be engaged when you’re not sure about yourself. That’s where he’s really made great strides. You can really see that — (we) saw it this offseason when he was really engaged on offense.”

Flowers will be a top pass receiver in the Ravens offense, assuming he stays healthy. He will need to continue his strong play, as he was a key part of the team’s offense last year and will be used as such again this year.
