Toddler ends up in hospital after restaurant serves her wine instead of apple juice

In California, a restaurant accidentally served a toddler wine instead of apple juice. PEOPLENoemi Valencia and her partner went to a Japanese restaurant. During the meal, they noticed that their toddler was showing symptoms of poisoning. “She was swaying, falling over, leaning against walls, couldn’t hold her head up and was slurring her words,” Valencia explained.

The couple then checked the toddler’s cup and quickly realized something was wrong. Instead of apple juice, the cup contained cooking wine. The drink had reportedly been mislabeled by an employee. The parents immediately took the toddler to the hospital, where they spent the night.

A blood test showed that the toddler’s blood alcohol level was 0.12 per mille – twice the legal limit for adults. “We have no comment at the moment,” said a restaurant employee. “We just want to wait for the police’s results.”

The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control said PEOPLE “They are aware of the situation and investigations are currently underway.” However, no charges have yet been filed.

Since being admitted to the hospital, the child has fully recovered and is sober again. … A sentence I never wanted to write about a child, but now it is! Valencia advises parents to check their children’s food when they go to a restaurant. “Take the right precautions and be careful how you store things or label them properly so this doesn’t happen to anyone else. Parents: taste what your children are served,” she told KSBW 8.

You know, it reminds me of the time a poor family was served insect repellent in a restaurant. It makes you wonder – nobody checks their containers again?! You can’t open them and Odor that it is wine and not apple juice?! Apparently the wine was stored in a container labeled “apple juice”.

It’s like something out of a sitcom. One thing I know: someone is about to get a big check. Or maybe not. Maybe the family will be gracious and let bygones be bygones!
