PHOENIX (AZFamily) – After originally expected to be completed this week, the closure of a busy intersection in Phoenix has been extended.
Since August 12, lanes at 24th Street and Camelback Road have been leaking due to repairs to an 18-inch water main.
The closure is now scheduled to last until the week of August 26, with the final paving to be completed by August 31, Phoenix Water Services said on Thursday. The schedule may be adjusted as the repair work progresses.
The following traffic restrictions apply:
- Camelback Road heading east: Reduced to one lane through the intersection of 24th Street.
- 24th Street heading north: Reduced to one lane, right turns onto Camelback Road eastbound are restricted.
- 24th Street South: Left turns onto Camelback Road eastbound are restricted.
- During the excavation work, further road restrictions may occur.
The water supply department said that access to businesses in the area would be maintained throughout the repair work. Water supplies to businesses would continue without interruptions.
