A new trailer and a poster for Smile 2 has just been released (via FearHQ.com) and if you liked it SmileEverything indicates that this is a worthy successor to the surprise horror hit.
Not only does it suggest we’ll finally learn more about the supernatural curse that struck Sosie Bacon’s Rose Cotter in the first film, but we also see Naomi Scott’s pop star Skye Riley take drastic measures to escape it. If this works… well, it could be game-changing for the franchise.
Smile has an 80% on Rotten Tomatoes and has been well-received by horror fans. Expectations are high for this sequel, and shifting the spotlight to a famous lead character promises to shake up that premise in an exciting way.
Parker Finn is once again responsible for writing and directing the sequel, so there is no reason to believe that the film will not be just as terrifying as its predecessor.
Beginning of the year Smile 2 Star Lukas Gage revealed that there is a scene in the sequel that is so bloody that he vomited when the cameras stopped rolling.
“It’s so awful. It was the first time I’d been on a set where I was really scared and I actually felt sick after just one take.” said the actor. “I didn’t think I would do that. It was just so bloody and so gross… I threw up off camera.”
“It’s really so scary. I’m not even lying,” Gage continued. “I’ve never been part of anything that really scared me. The crew is very scared when they’re filming because I don’t know, (writer/director) Parker Finn is so scared, he knows the genre so well.”
“It’s so good. I’m so afraid to give away any spoilers. All I’m saying is, if you loved the first movie, you’ll love this one.” he teased.
In Smile 2Just before the start of a new world tour, global pop sensation Skye Riley (Naomi Scott) begins experiencing increasingly horrific and inexplicable events. Overwhelmed by the escalating horrors and pressures of fame, Skye is forced to confront her dark past in order to regain control of her life before it spirals out of control.
The sequel was written and directed by Parker Finn and produced by Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, Isaac Klausner, Parker Finn and Robert Salerno.
Smile 2The cast includes Naomi Scott, Rosemarie DeWitt, Lukas Gage, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Peter Jacobson, Ray Nicholson, Dylan Gelula, Raúl Castillo and Kyle Gallner.
