Trailer for “Mufasa: The Lion King”: We give it an “A” for “Adopt, don’t buy”

The official trailer for Mufasa – The Lion King came out at D23, and we can only think, “That’s another reason why rescued cats are the better ones.” (Lions are big cats, OK?) Many people who still have childhood trauma from seeing “Scar” betray Mufasa will probably even more traumatized by The scene than ever after seeing this footage. And we are definitely scratching our heads trying to figure out how Taka went from being such a sweet, sweet little kitten lion cub to the villain we all know and loathe. But we just get stuck one Line:

“I’m not a stray. I’m just… lost.”

Friends, it’s summer – cat season – and there are many future Mufasas out there who Stray lost and looking for their forever home. Be like young Taka and save their lives. (Only, of course…not…be like old Taka, that’s all we’re saying.) And despite all the talk about the need to “protect the bloodline,” it is certainly not the big cat Lion from a noble family who grows up to be a hero, right? No, definitely not. So we’re doing away with the traditional movie rating system and giving this film an “A” for “Adopt, Don’t Buy.” (We could probably find a lesson about classism in there too, but the cat rulers told us to keep it short and sweet for now.)

Our only warning is that if you live with one of our cat rulers who once Stray Orphans, but now you have the responsibility, you may not want to let them watch these fictional furballs grow up and rule an entire kingdom. You don’t want them more convinced that they are our superiors, would we do that now? (Except for the part where, you know, they Are.)

Anyway, someone should tell Scar that if he “always wanted a brother,” he would do the right thing once he actually had one, not pushing him off a cliff and leaving a generation of children with lasting nightmares. Yes, Taka can say “But Dad, I saved his life!” in the trailer and all, but he certainly doesn’t save any lives later on. Bad kitty. No treats for him.
