Trailer for the second season of “Elsbeth” appears, 4 new actors

EXCLUSIVE: by CBS Elsbeth is gearing up to return for season 2 on October 17 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, and Deadline gives you your first look at the trailer above.

In addition, Pamela Adlon (Better things), Vanessa Williams (Ugly Betty), Rob Riggle (the Hangover) and Brittany O’Grady will guest star this season, with Aisha Tyler directing one episode.

Based on the character from The good wife And The good fightElsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston), the astute but unconventional lawyer who works with the NYPD to catch New York’s wealthy killers, using her unique perspective.

Showrunner Jonathan Tolins gives a taste of the new season: “As the second season begins, just as Elsbeth Tascioni is beginning to settle into her new life and career in New York, the mistakes she made in Chicago are coming back to haunt her. Officer Blanke (Carra Patterson) and Captain Wagner (Wendell Pierce) face their own challenges as the precinct recovers from the unpleasantness of the past year and is thrown into disarray by a pushy new lieutenant. Meanwhile, the team is thrown into even stranger corners of New York’s elite as they deal with people who think they can get away with anything.”

Adlon plays Chef Veev, one of America’s most respected chefs and owner of New York’s hottest restaurant. Despite her anger management training, Chef Veev’s rage turns deadly after an employee’s side hustle causes chaos in the dining room and ruins a big deal.

Williams plays Roselyn, the chic and super-rich VIP member of an exclusive Fifth Avenue jewelry store who takes her passion for fabulous jewelry to the next level when she realizes her fortune is gone and plans a jewel heist with some other VIPs. But when one of her recruits threatens to turn her and the crew over, she makes sure nothing and no one stands in her way.

Riggle plays Neal Dorsey, a billionaire who made his fortune as a paint manufacturer but is considered “uncool” by his fellow billionaires. Neal’s grudge against an old enemy takes a deadly turn when the fellow billionaire is killed in a bizarre accident while they are training for a pointless space mission.

O’Grady plays Mackenzie “Mac” Andrews, a former child star turned party girl plagued by tabloid and online scandals, as she works desperately to close a deal that could define the next chapter of her career. On Halloween, Mac wakes up after a wild night on the town wondering if she may have committed murder.

Elsbeth is produced by CBS Studios and is executive produced by Robert King, Michelle King, Liz Glotzer and Jonathan Tolins, who also serves as showrunner. Robert and Michelle King co-created the series.
