Training games are held for several sports teams

A great preseason start began with a few scrimmages for the Oakdale High School Mustang fall sports teams. Volleyball, golf and tennis all participated in scrimmages earlier this month. Water polo will participate in a scrimmage this weekend.

There is also a lot going on in volleyball this week – a practice game against Ripon has already been completed. The girls were scheduled to travel to Big Valley Christian on Monday evening, August 26th. On Tuesday, August 27th, the girls hosted Enochs. Both non-league games took place after The Leader went to press.

The girls golf team competed in the Yellowjacket Invite in Turlock on Monday, August 26. They open the Valley Oak League on Thursday, August 29 at Manteca Park. There will be nine holes.

The girls flag football started their first season last week on the road at Turlock, where they lost 38-7 in the Foundation Game. This was a Division IV team, Oakdale, playing a Division I team, Turlock, in a non-league game. Oakdale’s only touchdown — which also happened to be the first in school history — came on an interception return by Leila Muller.

Oakdale opens its first-ever regular season of flag football in the Valley Oak League on September 10 against Manteca.
