tvOS 18 is now available

Today, tvOS 18 introduces smart features like InSight, which displays up-to-date information about actors, characters, and music from every live-action Apple TV+ movie and show onscreen in real time. Enhance Dialogue also gets smarter with tvOS 18, using machine learning and computational audio to deliver better voice clarity. Subtitles now automatically appear at just the right moment, even when users mute, skip back in time while watching, or when the language in a show or movie doesn’t match the device language. Plus, tvOS 18 brings stunning new screen savers like Portraits to Apple TV 4K.

Updates are also available to the Home app, including Guest Access with iOS 18, which gives users convenient ways to give guests control of locks, garage doors, and security systems, schedule individual or time-based access to the home with smart locks, and view guest activity history. Additionally, in partnership with leading utilities, starting with Pacific Gas and Electric Company in California, the Home app now makes it easier for users to access, manage, and make more informed decisions about their home electricity usage.

Additional features of the house include:

  • House guests can share control of music playback from HomePod and HomePod mini by SharePlay and Apple Music.
  • AirPlay adds spatial audio This allows users to enjoy an immersive experience when streaming audio from iPhone and iPad to HomePod and compatible third-party audio devices.
  • Live subtitles for English in the US and Canada comes to FaceTime with Continuity Camera in tvOS 18, allowing users to read what others are saying during a FaceTime call on the biggest screen in the house.
  • AppleFitness+ has a completely new design in tvOS 18 with personalized recommendations for workouts and meditations, powerful search, and improved awards to help users stay motivated.
  • tvOS 18 will be available later this year and brings 21:9 support to play movies and shows on projectors and introduces new screen savers, such as Snoopy. In addition, Robot vacuum cleaner will be compatible with the Home app and will be able to participate in automations and scenes.
