The Minnesota Twins placed outfielder Byron Buxton on the 10-day injured list on Thursday due to right hip inflammation.

The move was retroactive to Tuesday after Buxton left Monday’s game against the Kansas City Royals due to illness.

Often injured, Buxton, 30, was on pace to play 100 games in a season for the second time in his 10-year career. After playing 90 games in 2024, Buxton has a .275 batting average with 16 home runs and 49 RBIs.

Buxton, an All-Star in 2022, has a lifetime batting average of .243 with 131 home runs and 346 RBIs in 760 career games for the Twins (2015-present). His 2017 season, in which he received MVP votes and won a Gold Glove Award, was the only time he played more than 92 games (140) in an MLB season.

In other roster moves, Minnesota recalled infielder Edouard Julien and right-handed pitcher Ronny Henriquez from Triple-A St. Paul and optioned right-hander Louie Varland to Triple-A.

Julien, 25, started 63 games for the Twins this season, posting a .204 batting average with seven home runs and 17 RBIs.

Henriquez, 24, has a 0-1 record and a 1.80 ERA in six relief appearances for the Twins, including three scoreless appearances earlier this season (3 1/3 innings).

Varland, 26, is 0-5 with a 6.14 ERA in eight games (seven starts) this season.
