Police are searching for two suspects who allegedly shot and killed an employee at this tobacco shop in Richmond Hill on Monday evening.

Police from the 102nd Precinct in Richmond Hill are searching for a gunman and his accomplice who entered a tobacco store at 119-11 Jamaica Avenue on Monday evening, August 5, got into an argument with a store employee and then shot him multiple times.
The two suspects entered the Sky High Exotic under the J elevated train at 10:40 p.m. and got into a verbal argument with the 34-year-old man behind the counter.
One of the attackers pulled out a handgun and fired several shots, hitting the victim multiple times in the body, police said. The suspects ran from the store and were last seen running down Jamaica Avenue.
Emergency services arrived at the scene and transported the victim to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
The NYPD released surveillance images of the two suspects and described them as having dark skin. One was wearing a tan baseball cap, glasses, a dark T-shirt with a white pattern on the front, dark pants, black sneakers and a black fanny pack over his shoulder. The second suspect was wearing a black baseball cap, glasses, a blue T-shirt, gray sweatpants and white sneakers.
A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for information leading to their arrest.

As of Aug. 4, the 102nd Precinct has reported 200 aggravated assaults so far in 2024, 26 fewer than the 226 reported at the same time last year, an 11.5% decrease, according to the latest CompStat report. The number of shootings has increased in the precinct: Seven have been reported so far this year, two more than the five reported at the same time in 2023, a 40% increase, according to CompStat.
