Tyreek Hill scores a touchdown and celebrates after being arrested in handcuffs

Tyreek Hill made sure to put his hands behind his back after racing down the sideline for a touchdown.

Hill capped a day that began with him being detained in handcuffs by police outside the stadium for a traffic violation with an 80-yard touchdown pass with 2:08 left in the third quarter in the Dolphins’ season opener against the Jaguars.

Hill, who was charged with reckless driving in connection with the late-morning police incident shortly before arriving at Hard Rock Stadium, intercepted a pass from Tua Tagovailoa at halftime and raced down the left sideline for the extra point that cut the Jaguars’ lead to 17-14.

The Dolphins eventually won 20-14, with Hill catching seven of twelve attempts for 130 yards.

After throwing the ball into the stands, Hill stood in the far corner of the end zone and celebrated with the handcuffs.

Teammate Jaylen Waddle released the imaginary handcuffs before they returned to the Miami sideline.

Miami-Dade police said they were investigating Hill’s arrest on Sunday, where video showed him lying on the ground in handcuffs before he was released.

“We are aware of the recent arrest of Miami Dolphins player Tyreek Hill by officers of the Miami-Dade Police Department,” said Director Stephanie V. Daniels in a statement released by the MDPD. “I have requested an immediate review of all the details of the incident, and we are also reviewing available body camera footage. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.”

In an interview with NFL Network, Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus called his client’s treatment “unnecessary,” adding, “There is no reason why Tyreek should be treated this way.”
