Ugreen Revodok Max 213 Thunderbolt 4 Docking Station Review

Ugreen Revodok Max 213 Thunderbolt 4 Docking Station Review

Ugreen is one of the best PC and mobile accessories brands on the market right now. The company offers fantastic products at great value for money and with excellent quality. I recently reviewed the new Ugreen Revodok Max 213 and it is an impressive addition to the Ugreen lineup. The 13-in-1 Thunderbolt 4 Docking Station is a great way to add more peripherals to your desktop setup with a single device.

design

The Revodok Max is built like a tank. The entire body of the docking station is made of metal and has a good weight to it when you take it out of the box. This also translates into pretty good thermal controls to keep the device cool. The build quality is exceptional and immediately noticeable.

Enough of the praise for Ugreen’s design; let’s get to the heart of the matter and the I/O options. The included power supply delivers a full 180 watts of power, which should be more than enough for almost any workstation and peripherals.

The front of the Revodok Max has most of the usual inputs and outputs. Here you’ll find the power button at the top and several ports below. These include a USB-C with 20W power and 10Gbps transfer speed, two USB-A with 10Gbps, a microSD card slot, a full-size SD card slot and finally an additional 3.5mm audio jack.

Now let’s move on to the back where we find an even larger and more fully featured selection of ports. Here you’ll find the upstream Thunderbolt 4 port to plug into your PC. This literally powers the downstream options we’ll cover next in a single port and passes that data or display to the others.

Next, there are two Thunderbolt 4 ports for other options like monitors, SSDs, or general power. Just above these TB4 ports is a DisplayPort 1.4 output for monitors. To the left of that are two USB-A 5Gbps ports, an Ethernet RJ45 jack for networking, and the dedicated power port for the 180-watt adapter. I can’t imagine most users missing anything here, except possibly a dedicated HDMI monitor output.

Daily use and performance

I have yet to find anything that Revodok does not support as advertised. My setup includes two monitors, two USB-powered printers, and multiple SSDs/peripherals via USB-A. The Thunderbolt 4 functions simply continue to accommodate all inputs and outputs and run smoothly.

This is true for all three major operating systems in my house, with no additional drivers required. macOS, Linux, and Windows “just work” every time I connect a Thunderbolt-enabled laptop or desktop. Each computer has simply recognized all of the important expansion capabilities found in the Revodok 213 Max.

I’m happy to report that this docking station from Ugreen has a standard Ethernet jack. The RJ45 port supports up to 2500Mbps. This is automatically negotiated with the host to confirm the maximum transfer rates it can handle, and the Revodok Max then boosts the internet connection accordingly. I’ve found this to be very consistent in my usage, and I get my maximum connection from my internet provider through the jack.

Finally, the metal design does a great job of keeping the device cool. Even with the full 180 watts of power pumped through the dock, I never felt it warm to the touch. This is a nice feature to consider in the overall design language, as many docks require or no longer require their own fan.

Final thoughts

This exceptional product has been awarded Pinnacle Selection Award, a mark of unprecedented excellence as it surpasses an average rating of 4.25 out of five stars. It is considered the best in its class and embodies the highest standards of innovation, design and user satisfaction. Our rating confirms its status as a leader with almost unmatched quality and performance.

I really enjoyed my time with the Ugreen Revodok 213 Max. The high-resolution outputs, 180W power adapter, and multitude of ports make it a welcome addition to any workspace. Add to that the fact that this can all be done via a single Thunderbolt 4 port, and you have a solid contender.

The pricing isn’t bad either. The Revodok currently costs over $350, but is currently on sale at Amazon via the two links below. Even at full retail price, this is a great dock with a ton of features that make it worth the price.
