Unexpected absence from training of FC Barcelona star fuels sales talks

The unexpected absence of the FC Barcelona first team star from training has fuelled rumors that he could be sold in the next few days.

With less than 24 hours left until the Blaugrana’s home debut in the 2024/2025 La Liga against Athletic Club at the Montjuic Stadium, Andreas Christensen did not show up for training at the Joan Gamper CT in Catalonia on Friday morning.

Such a development has fuelled rumours that the club may be in sales talks with the Dane.

Finally, Mika Faye recently missed training and is now close to joining Rennes, as reported by various media outlets, including Mundo Deportivo.

Last weekend, Ilkay Gündogan was surprisingly missing from Hansi Flick’s first matchday squad when he travelled to Valencia for the Catalans’ actual season debut.

Gerard Romero tweeted that anonymous club sources had told him that “Gundo” would sit out the eventual 2-1 win because he sustained a blow to the eyebrow in the Joan Gamper Trophy defeat to AS Monaco almost two weeks ago.

However, as we now know, Gündogan is on his way back to his former club Manchester City, according to a statement. The athlete.

Although he is one of the top players in the 2023/2024 season, Barca are letting the midfielder return to City for free as he is terminating his contract with around two years left to run.

Barca paid nothing for Gündogan 14 months ago when he arrived on a free transfer, but the club should still try to make something of a player who has proven that he is still among the elite at the age of 33.

At least if Christensen is sold, Barca will want to get money for the center back and the rotation player.

As with Gündogan, Barca paid nothing for his services two summers ago when his contract with Chelsea expired, and this week there were reports of SPORT that Barca are open to a sale as they need to balance their books to sign new signing Dani Olmo.

According to the same source, however, Christensen’s absence has nothing to do with the transfer negotiations, but is rather due to minor discomfort, which was also confirmed by MARCA.
