While we don’t have an opening date for Epic Universe yet, word is that it’s set to open in time for summer 2025. That means it’s probably less than a year away!
We can’t wait to experience all the new lands this park has to offer, but one of the lands we’re most excited about is Celestial Park, the main land. The portals to the other 4 lands branch off from Celestial Park, and whether you come through the main gates or stay at the Grand Helios Hotel, you’ll enter Celestial Park. Now, Universal’s creatives have confirmed that this area of the park will be home to a nighttime spectacle that may be unlike anything we’ve seen before!
In a recent interview on the Discover Universal Podcast, Universal Creatives Jonathan (JC) and Catherynne confirmed that While the water features and lights of Celestial Park are programmed to perform certain activities and events during the day, a nighttime spectacle is also planned!
In Catherynne’s words: A major remodel is planned to change from day to night as there are so many lights that can be programmedFor this reason, Universal has spent a lot of effort and money installing many more lights than you would normally see in a park.
The story behind the transformation is that Apollo, the sun god, takes care of the park during the day, but when dusk falls, it is time to hand it over to Luna, who is responsible for the glow of the night. This transition between the two will make this nightly spectacle!
The lights will swell, accompanied by beautiful music, until it becomes a dance of light around the land – the plants, trees, buildings – everything will be included in this transition. And Once the ceremony is complete and the baton has been passed to Luna, the park will be illuminated for the evening.
We think this sounds absolutely breathtaking and we can’t WAIT to see it for ourselves! It sounds like Universal knows exactly what will wow guests and now we just have to see if the reality lives up to the description.
