ESCANABA — The UP State Fair continues to treat visitors to entertainment, games, pageantry and, of course, food. The fair is almost halfway over, so be sure to head out to the fairgrounds and sample all the tasty treats.

From the first moment, your sense of smell will be flooded with delicious and varied scents.

Wherever you look, there is a vendor selling food, sweets and drinks.

If you are looking for a savory snack or meal, there are numerous options including corn on the cob, hot dogs, chili cheese fries, cheese curds, cheesesteaks, nachos, tacos, chicken tenders, bourbon chicken, catfish, white fish, Polish sausage, Italian sausage, pizza, steak tips, gyros, soft pretzels, popcorn, kettle corn and more.

Make sure you drink plenty of fluids throughout the day as you will be doing a lot of walking around, playing games and riding rides.

Visitors will have no trouble finding freshly squeezed lemonade, as it is offered by several vendors at the fair. Some vendors even offer flavored lemonade, such as blueberry and strawberry. If lemonade isn’t your thing, there are a wide variety of sodas, teas, smoothies and coffees.

It wouldn’t be complete without dessert; luckily the fair has made provision for that too.

Candy lovers will find cotton candy, ice cream, Dippin Dots, mini donuts, funnel cakes, candied apples, caramel apples, pies, fried Oreos and, of course, elephant ears.

Some merchants prefer cash as a means of payment and fortunately there are ATMs scattered around the exhibition grounds in case you forget your ATM.

Be sure to go out and get something to eat before the fair ends – you deserve it.
