US brand Nike and MoMA design store announce exclusive sock release

Nike is proud to expand its long-standing relationship with the MoMA Design Store and announce a series of limited edition product releases, starting with the MoMA Nike Everyday Sock.

Each co-branded release highlights the connection between movement and design, while reminding us that inspiration is often expressed in everyday objects.

Nike has a long-standing association with the MoMA Design Store and the Museum of Modern Art’s curatorial program. In 2017, three examples of Nike’s original 1980 Air Force 1 sneaker design were included in MoMA’s exhibition “Items: Is Fashion Modern?” The exhibition showcased 111 pieces of clothing and accessories that have had a major impact on the world in the 20th and 21st centuries. The following year, the MoMA Design Store released the OFF-WHITE by Virgil Abloh x Nike Air Force 1, accompanied by a co-branded MoMA Nike Elite basketball sock.

Nike and MoMA Design Store announce a series of limited edition products, starting with the MoMA Nike Everyday Sock. This collaboration highlights the connection between movement and design, reflecting shared values ​​in aesthetics and functionality. The sock features unique branding and performance features, supporting athletes on and off the field.

The next stage of this relationship reflects the shared values ​​of Nike and the MoMA Design Store. Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman believed, “If you have a body, you’re an athlete,” an idea that guided Nike’s design strategy from the beginning and continues to guide the development of performance products from the broadest possible perspective.

This study and understanding of the relationships between fashion and function, material and technology, and aesthetics and culture have become an integral part of the MoMA Design Store’s DNA and its commitment to bringing good design into people’s lives by selecting objects that meet carefully considered design criteria—all of which have been approved by the museum’s curators.

The first in the series, the MoMA Nike Everyday Sock features a Swoosh and MoMA branding on the calf and features a unique “Just Do It” stitch at the toe. Shock-absorbing soles and a moisture-wicking upper keep athletes’ feet supported and dry on and off the field.

The MoMA Nike Everyday Sock is available exclusively at MoMA Design Store U.S. locations, with all purchases supporting the museum’s educational programs. Additional limited edition and co-branded Nike MoMA products will be announced at a later date.
