US singer Madison Beer pays over S,000 for the rent of a nail salon in Aljunied to help the 21-year-old owner who was on the verge of “giving it all up”

SINGAPORE: US pop singer Madison Beer was recently in town for a concert at the Singapore EXPO Hall as part of her regional tour. But she didn’t just cheer the hearts of her fans; in an act of generosity and kindness, she also paid the rent of a nail salon in Aljunied.

The salon’s owner, Hazel Wah, 21, shared the story of the singer’s kind act on Instagram on Saturday (August 24). “MADISON BEER PAID MY RENT!!!” Ms. Wah wrote, posting a photo with Ms. Beer showing off the singer’s beautiful nails.

Ms. Wah’s salon was formerly called Toto Nail Studio and has since been renamed Edens’ Atelier Co. In her post, she explained that she took a “leap of faith” in moving to a larger space.

However, her former partner did not fulfil his obligation and left her hanging, leaving her with financial difficulties, she added.

The business owner added that she has been financially independent since she was 18 and expanded the salon using her own resources, losing more than S$20,000 on rent, electricity, salaries and other obligations.

“This was a lot for me to take in because $20,000 is a huge loss for me at age 21,” Ms Wah wrote, adding that the experience was “really just blood, sweat and tears” as she worked 12-hour shifts to make sure her bills were paid.

Thankfully, her fiancé and friends were on hand to help, but an unexpected blessing came when she received a direct message from Ms Beer on Thursday (August 22). The singer wrote that her nails were “breaking and falling apart” and asked if she could get them done at Ms Wah’s salon.

She wrote that the singer was “genuinely so nice, so friendly” and that they talked a lot. Ms. Wah called the encounter an “amazing and surreal experience,” adding that Ms. Beer’s IG story helped the salon and she will be “forever grateful.”

Ms Beer asked her agency to transfer S$3,460 to Ms Wah’s PayNow and informed Ms Wah that she had paid her rent.

“I was honestly just impressed that she even gave me the chance to do her nails. I still can’t believe she PAID MY RENT!!!”

The singer also sent her a nice message.

Ms. Wah, overwhelmed by Ms. Beer’s performance, even tried to return the singer’s money. She wrote that she had been close to “giving up everything” and thanked those who had supported her, especially Ms. Beer.

“Special thanks to Madison @madisonbeer – even though you may not see it, the entire Edens team truly appreciates everything you have done for us. 🤍
