The United States Men’s National Team closes out the September international window tonight with a match against New Zealand at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati. The USMNT is fresh off a 2-1 loss to Canada, their second ever home defeat against their northern neighbors.
According to interim coach Mikey Varas, the USMNT did not play with the “right mindset,” and it showed in a game where Canada controlled the tempo for 90 minutes. They will hope to regroup and turn things around to earn a win against a New Zealand team that is coming off a 3-0 loss to Mexico over the weekend and is looking to increase the pressure on offense. The United States is in a gut-checking phase and needs to tune out the outside distractions and get back to playing solid soccer.
