UW-Madison students return to campus for fall semester

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – August 15th is typically the busiest day for new rental properties across Madison.

We met with students moving into their new homes on Mifflin Street. Students said that finding an apartment needs to be planned proactively. Some are even thinking about where they will live next year before finalizing the move for this year.

Henry Lee, a junior at UW-Madison, said he got his new home last October after starting his search the first week of September last year.

“The market is moving fast, so do you need to look for next year next month? We should probably start this week,” Lee said.

For those living in the UW campus dorms, move-in day begins on August 27. The fall semester officially begins on September 4.

The City of Madison is suspending the closure of the 400-600 blocks of State Street through Sunday to make room for parade floats. Cars will also be able to drive through during the parade. Events on State Street have also been suspended. Driving restrictions will be reinstated after the parade.
