Vermont man threatened to shoot Applebee’s employees and drive his car through restaurant – NECN

A Vermont man is facing multiple charges after police say he threatened to shoot employees at a local Applebee’s and drive his car through the restaurant.

Justin Ronald West, 28, of Barre City, is charged with domestic violence, criminal threats, disturbing the peace on the telephone, stalking, fleeing from police, reckless driving and speeding.

Police said they were called to Applebee’s in Berlin, Vermont, on Wednesday because a man was threatening to shoot employees and drive his car through the store. The suspect, later identified as West, was reportedly standing in the parking lot armed with a gun.

By the time officers arrived, West had already left the area. While they were investigating, he drove his vehicle past the crime scene. Police attempted to stop his vehicle, but he led them on a chase through Berlin. He drove recklessly by turning off his vehicle’s headlights to avoid arrest. Police said he drove at a high rate of speed through residential and industrial areas of Berlin. He was last seen driving away from Applebee’s, and police eventually decided to call off the pursuit.

Police said West was arrested later that day. He was being held at the St. Johnsbury Correctional Center pending arraignment.
